Running Android OS (2.2 Froyo) on HD2

So, if you ever get tired of your native WM 6.5 OS on the HTC HD2, you might want to try the latest release of Android (2.2 Froyo). Below you can find a step by step tutorial on how to actually run it without having to wipe your existing Windows installation (who knows, maybe you want to revert).

Myself, I am currently running Froyo 2.2, the Darkstone build and I find it pretty stable, allthough it kinda drains out your battery a bit.

I didn't get any errors with it, didn't have to format my storage card and did not experience any data loss or corruption. Still, please beware that because I am not performing this activity on your phone, I cannot be considered responsible for any kind of damage to your phone. I hope you won't encounter any problems, and I think you shouldn't if you follow the steps carefully.

Pre-requisites:
HTC HD2 running WM6.5
Storage Card with at least 1Gb free
USB Data Cable
Android Darkstone for HD2 - you will have to download it, can be found here:

The steps to a successful installation:

1. Download the archive
2. Connect your phone to the pc using it as a mass storage device
3. Unzip the archive to your storage card (you should have a folder named Android on you storage card afterwards)
4. Disconnect the phone from your PC
5. After Windows loads start the File Explorer and go to the folder Android on the storage card
6. Inside the folder you should find a executable file called CLRCAD, run it
7. In the same folder you should find another executable file called Haret. After running this file, the Android should start booting. It might take some time for the first boot, be patient.
8. Enjoy Android! ;)

If you want to go back to Windows, just shut your phone off and restart it again, it will automatically boot into Windows.
